"Just Passing Through" Encaustic Sculpture

"Just Passing Through" Encaustic Sculpture

$50.00

“Just Passing Through” is an encaustic sculpture.

Encaustic is a form of paint made from beeswax, damar resin and pigment. To paint with encaustics you have to use a hot plate or griddle to keep the paint fluid. Applied in thin layers, a torch is run over the surface between each layer to fuse it to the one below. It’s a very unique medium and also can be a bit tricky to work with.

This sculpture has a vintage style circus figure made from paper clay and painted with acrylics. The box was made from cardboard and coated with encaustic paint. Signed and dated on the back.

The piece measures approximately 4.25” wide x 5.25” tall x 2.5” deep.

Has a built in hole in the back that can hang on a finish nail or similar. Can also be displayed sitting on a surface or shelf.

Although encaustic is made from primarily beeswax it won’t melt without extreme heat. To maintain the surface just buff with a soft cloth occasionally.

My art will show signs of the hands that made it, there may be small inconsistencies from time to time with each piece. This just adds to the charm of the piece and comes along with any handmade object.
